A law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage their own caseload, engaging in direct client interactions and collaborating with a dedicated Immigration Team. The role involves representing clients in various immigration matters, preparing legal documentation, and providing strategic advice.

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases effectively.
  • Conduct intakes and interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to address changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and guide clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Active Bar admission in Florida (or law graduates awaiting admission will be considered).
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, legal writing, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
