Lateral Associate Attorney with proven experience in commercial litigation

A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a driven Lateral Associate Attorney with proven experience in commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have a background in handling discovery, conducting and defending depositions, drafting pleadings, and overseeing document review. Preference will be given to candidates with courtroom experience. The position requires outstanding academic credentials, strong written and verbal communication skills, and bar admission in New York State or eligibility to promptly obtain admission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage complex commercial litigation cases from inception through resolution.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of case law and statutes.
• Draft and review legal documents including complaints, motions, and briefs.
• Handle discovery processes, including document requests, interrogatories, and depositions.
• Prepare witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.
• Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain organized case files and records.

Requirements:

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to promptly obtain admission.
• Should have 2+ years of experience in commercial litigation, including courtroom experience.
