This opportunity offers flexible work arrangements, with options to work from any of the firm’s multiple offices across various states or to work remotely with approval. The position is ideal for an early-career attorney looking to specialize in energy and property law, gaining hands-on experience working directly with clients, land professionals, and internal legal teams. The firm values strong communicators, independent problem-solvers, and attorneys who take pride in delivering practical, client-centered solutions.

Duties:

  • Examine, review, and interpret property records, including deeds, leases, contracts, and other documents related to mineral rights and property ownership.
  • Draft tailored title opinions outlining ownership history, potential risks, and recommended resolutions.
  • Partner with clients, land professionals, and fellow attorneys to resolve title issues and prepare curative documents.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on property rights, mineral laws, and regulatory changes impacting energy development.
  • Support transactional due diligence by reviewing title issues related to acquisitions, divestitures, or leasing activities.
  • Translate complex legal findings into clear, actionable guidance for clients.
  • Track and monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting mineral title, ensuring clients stay informed.

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of legal experience, ideally including exposure to property law, mineral title work, or transactional energy matters.
  • Strong ability to review and evaluate detailed property records and chains of title.
  • Analytical thinker with a focus on creative problem-solving and practical solutions.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging directly with clients, land teams, and legal colleagues.
  • A team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Preference for candidates admitted in energy-producing states, though this is not required.

Skills:

  • Advanced legal drafting skills, especially for title opinions and curative instruments.
  • Clear and confident oral communication, particularly in client-facing situations.
  • Strong legal research capabilities using online and traditional research platforms.
  • Ability to distill complex legal concepts into practical client advice.
  • Technologically proficient, especially in remote work tools and collaborative platforms.

Location:

  • Multiple options – available to candidates working in-office at any of the firm’s locations across several states or remotely with approval.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Employer-matched retirement savings program.
  • Professional development support, including continuing legal education (CLE).
  • Flexible work policies, including remote and hybrid options where appropriate.
  • Collaborative and collegial firm culture that encourages mentorship and career advancement.
