Duties:

  • Represent developers, lenders, landlords, and community associations in legal matters.
  • Manage commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, purchase, financing, and leasing.
  • Assist with forming, registering, governance, and compliance of residential, commercial, and mixed-use condominiums.
  • Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft agreements, deeds, loan documents, leases, declarations, and covenants.
  • Oversee and manage teams to ensure timely closings and meet project milestones.
  • Conduct specialized training for boards of directors, committees, and managers.
  • Provide guidance on association governance, prepare amendments to governing documents, and address fair housing issues.
  • Actively participate in the community associations industry, including involvement with organizations such as the Community Associations Institute (CAI), teaching at chapter events, and contributing articles to relevant publications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community association law.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting governing documents and guiding association governance.
  • Proven track record of managing teams and ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Active involvement in the community associations industry.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.
