Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a mid-senior-level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney with a robust background in patent litigation. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of experience handling complex patent litigation matters, including significant exposure to drafting and responding to pleadings, preparing claim charts, and managing all aspects of patent trials and appeals. This position requires strong academic credentials, superb judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding client service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence for state and federal court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
• Draft and respond to complex discovery requests.
• Confer, negotiate, and communicate with opposing counsel.
• Prepare for, defend, and conduct depositions.
• Prepare for trial, including preparing exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, motions in limine, and witness preparation.
• Prepare Federal Circuit appeal briefs.
• Supervise and train junior associates.

Requirements

• 6-8 years of experience in patent litigation, including significant experience with:
  • Drafting and responding to pleadings.
  • Preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts.
  • Markman and claim construction proceedings.
  • Patent-specific fact and expert discovery.
  • Interpartes reviews and overall litigation strategy.
• Patent trial experience is a plus.
• USPTO admission, an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or substantial experience litigating matters in these or similar disciplines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Certifications

• Admission to the State Bar (California).
• USPTO admission (preferred).
