Job Overview:

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to provide high-level legal services in tax-related matters, offering comprehensive solutions in a variety of complex legal scenarios.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic advice on minimizing tax burdens for clients in various areas including mergers & acquisitions, real estate, business tax planning, and nonprofit tax planning.
  • Assist in employee benefits structuring, business succession, wealth transfer, and charitable planning.
  • Handle cases involving federal, state, and local taxation matters.
  • Represent clients in tax disputes and controversies, including IRS Administrative Appeals, U.S. Tax Court, and Federal District Courts.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tailored legal strategies addressing both immediate tax issues and long-term financial goals.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of law firm experience, with a significant focus on tax law.
  • Proficiency in handling complex tax-related matters for businesses and individuals.
  • Strong litigation skills for representing clients in tax controversies before various courts and administrative bodies.

Education:

  • LLM degree in Taxation or a related field from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses to practice law in the state of North Carolina or the willingness to obtain them.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex tax and financial issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and colleagues.
