A law firm in Knoxville, TN is seeking a detail-oriented Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in employment law and litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills, with a demonstrated desire to participate actively in all stages of litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on labor and employment issues.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Assist in preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and courts.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counseling to clients on employment matters.
  • Assist in conducting internal investigations and preparing investigative reports.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment laws and regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Tennessee State Bar in good standing.
  • 2-5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials, including clerkship experience and law review participation.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience representing clients before administrative agencies such as the EEOC or NLRB.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and FLSA.
  • Experience advising employers on employment policies and practices.
