Job Overview:
A legal recruiting firm is seeking an experienced Facilities & Business Attorney to join a prominent law firm with office Monterey, CA. This attorney will primarily focus on supporting school districts and public agencies in areas such as construction, development, and real property matters. Ideal candidates should have a passion for working with public entities, particularly in the education sector, and bring experience in transactional or litigation work. Prior experience working with the California Environmental Quality Act is a plus.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on business, construction, real property, and public agency matters
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare legal documents related to public and education law
  • Advise and collaborate with clients on legal strategies and issues
  • Stay up-to-date on legal trends and developments, providing training to clients as needed
  • Represent clients in negotiations and legal proceedings when necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of practicing experience, preferably focused on public agency or school district matters
  • Experience representing school districts, public agencies, or similar clients
  • Strong understanding of California public agency, employment, and education laws
  • Experience with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is beneficial

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities
  • Strong oral advocacy and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Proven experience in handling complex legal transactions and litigation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
