A law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their employment litigation defense team. The successful candidate will defend single plaintiff lawsuits and wage and hour class actions, work directly with clients on strategic decisions, and represent them in hearings, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings. The role requires a strong background in litigation and employment law, with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defend clients in employment litigation matters, including single plaintiff lawsuits and wage and hour class actions.
  • Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with clients and senior attorneys.
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Manage case files and ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication.
  • Stay informed about current court procedures and employment-related agency regulations at both state and federal levels.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on employment law issues.
  • Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather evidence and build strong cases.
  • Handle multiple cases and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and managing priorities effectively.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Active California State Bar admission.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of litigation experience.
  • Strong understanding of current court procedures and employment-related agency processes (state and federal).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Employment law background strongly preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar admission.
