Investment Team Associate Attorney

Job Overview
A prominent law firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an experienced Transactional Lawyer for its Investment Team practice. This team primarily represents capital providers in their debt and equity investment activities. The role presents a unique opportunity to engage with both equity and debt investors while representing portfolio companies in acquisition, sell-side, and financing activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in transactional law, particularly in finance or corporate transactions, and will have the chance to work on diverse and complex legal matters.

Duties

  • Represent lenders and alternative investment vehicles in lending transactions and investment activities.
  • Collaborate with private equity fund investors on control and growth equity investments.
  • Negotiate and draft transaction documents, including loan agreements, investment agreements, and related legal instruments.
  • Conduct due diligence for transactions and provide strategic legal advice to clients.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication throughout the transaction process.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent degree).
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred.
  • 2-6 years of transactional experience, ideally in finance or corporate transactions.
  • Excellent academic performance, demonstrating a solid understanding of transactional law.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred.
