Duties:

  • Advise clients on employee benefits matters, including retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, executive compensation, and fringe benefits.
  • Provide legal guidance on complex issues related to mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring involving employee benefits.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, compliance documents, and client communications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing practical, actionable advice.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and manage legal matters related to employee benefits law.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in employee benefits legislation and ERISA regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments within the firm to deliver comprehensive legal services.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law, with knowledge of ERISA, retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, or fringe benefits.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and/or downsizing related to employee benefits is a plus.
  • Strong academic background with exceptional communication and writing skills, particularly in distilling complex legal matters into clear and actionable advice.
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to apply legal principles to real-world situations.
  • A strong team player with a desire to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Admission to practice law in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Washington, DC.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Washington, DC.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits law.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
