Associate Attorney needed for San Diego office

A law firm in San Diego, CA, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with 3-7 years of litigation experience, preferably in business and real estate, to join their team. The role involves handling all aspects of litigation, from case inception through resolution, including client communication, legal research, drafting pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appellate work.

Duties:

• Conduct initial meetings with Senior Attorneys and potential clients.
• Draft initial demand letters and pre-litigation correspondence.
• Prepare initial Complaints and draft responses to Complaints.
• Manage all aspects of case management, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
• Maintain organized electronic case files and document management.
• Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with Senior Attorneys.
• Delegate tasks and supervise work among junior associates.
• Communicate effectively with clients to provide case updates and discuss strategy.
• Attend Mediations and prepare for mediation sessions.
• Conduct legal research and gather facts relevant to motions and discovery.
• Meet and confer with opposing counsel as necessary.
• Attend hearings and orally argue Motions.
• Develop and implement discovery strategies, draft and propound written discovery.
• Coordinate and conduct expert witness discovery.
• Defend and conduct depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and experts.
• Engage in discovery-related motion practice.
• Assist in trial preparation, including witness preparation and trial strategy.
• Actively participate in trial proceedings, including examination of witnesses and presenting evidence.
• Collaborate with lead trial counsel on case arguments and overall trial strategy.
• Handle post-trial motions, appeals, and enforcement of judgments.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in California.
• 3-7 years of experience in litigation, preferably in business and real estate.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cases and drive them to successful resolution.
• Proactive and strategic thinker with a strong sense of initiative.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
