A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a dedicated Private Client Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in estate planning, with proficiency in drafting estate planning documents and advising on domestic estate, gift, and income tax matters. International estate tax planning experience is desirable for this role.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review standard and sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Advise clients on domestic estate, gift, and income tax planning strategies.
  • Conduct research on legal issues related to estate planning and tax matters.
  • Collaborate with clients and co-advisors, such as financial planners and accountants, to develop comprehensive estate plans.
  • Prepare and file estate tax returns and other necessary documents.
  • Assist clients with probate and trust administration matters as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting estate planning.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Eligible for admission to the District of Columbia Bar.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in estate planning at a law firm or in a related practice area.
  • Strong understanding of domestic estate, gift, and income tax laws.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • First-rate organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An LL.M. in Taxation is a plus.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with international estate tax planning.
  • Familiarity with estate and trust administration procedures.
  • Prior client-facing experience and a demonstrated commitment to client service.
