Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Renewable Energy Project Development & Finance Associate with at least three years of experience to join its Corporate practice. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage, and to play an integral role in advancing the clean energy transition. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in project development and financing, and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team and innovative clients.

Location:

  • Anchorage, AK

Duties:

  • Advise clients on all aspects of renewable energy project development, finance, and transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including power purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, hedge contracts, construction contracts, and other commercial agreements.
  • Work with developers, investors, utilities, and corporate buyers on renewable energy projects from inception to execution.
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions within the energy sector.
  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory, financial, and environmental matters affecting renewable energy projects.
  • Take a hands-on role in client-facing matters and manage legal projects from start to finish.
  • Work in collaboration with a dynamic team to deliver practical and creative legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of law firm experience in project development, finance, mergers & acquisitions, or commercial contracts.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of power purchase agreements, asset/company purchase agreements, hedge contracts, or construction contracts is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Client-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in the relevant state(s) or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction(s) or eligibility to become admitted.
