A law firm in San Francisco is seeking an Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate Attorney with a strong background in tax-qualified plans and comprehensive knowledge across various benefits areas. The ideal candidate will have exceptional academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. Bar admission in California or eligibility for prompt admission is required.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • Draft and review plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and other related materials.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans.
  • Advise clients on compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Handle benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration.
  • Counsel clients on executive compensation arrangements, including equity-based incentives.
  • Keep abreast of developments in benefits and compensation law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California or eligibility to promptly obtain admission.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Strong background in tax-qualified retirement plans and familiarity with health and welfare benefits, executive compensation, securities laws, and M&A transactions.
  • Excellent analytical, research, writing, and oral communication skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certification in Employee Benefits Law (CEBS) or Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) designation is a plus.
