A law firm seeks a highly motivated and skilled Immigration Attorney to join their team in Rancho Cucamonga. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law to advance their career. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various immigration matters, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and representation in both detained and non-detained cases. This role also offers the chance to work closely with a supportive legal team and gain valuable experience in the immigration field.

Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage an active caseload, ensuring all legal deadlines are met and appropriate legal strategies are implemented.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to clients regarding their immigration matters and prepare them for hearings.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS forms.
  • Meet with detained clients and conduct intake at detention centers.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law issues.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop case strategies, including preparing clients and witnesses for testimony before USCIS and in court.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and other legal documents for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 1 to 4 years of experience practicing immigration law.
    • Strong experience with removal defense, family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, and USCIS applications.
    • Familiarity with immigration court proceedings and filing procedures.
    • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting and filing legal documents, including legal briefs, motions, and appeals.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to stay updated on immigration law developments.
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and USCIS processes.
