Job Overview: A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its team. The role involves providing legal counsel on a range of energy regulatory issues, handling compliance matters and litigation, and supporting energy transactions.

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on energy regulatory issues, including market-based rate, market design, generation interconnection, and transmission issues.
  • Represent clients in compliance and enforcement matters before FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges, including conducting investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance work.
  • Provide transactional support for energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and advise on regulatory strategies.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or ability to waive in.
  • 3-6 years of experience practicing energy regulatory law.
  • Strong understanding of FERC regulations and procedures.
  • Experience with energy transactional matters is highly desirable.

Certifications:

  • Certification in Energy Law (e.g., through the State Bar or other recognized body) is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
