Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join its growing team in Fresno, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly admitted attorney or a recent graduate with a passion for criminal defense. The position offers valuable hands-on experience with case management, client interaction, and collaboration with an experienced team. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and gain exposure to all aspects of criminal defense practice.

Duties:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing strategic advice.
• Manage court appearances, trials, motion drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.
• Analyze case outcomes by reviewing legal precedents and applying knowledge of criminal law.
• Manage a caseload of criminal defense cases and maintain client relationships.
• Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits for clients' cases.
• Collect additional evidence to support the client's case or challenge prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and develop case strategies with witnesses and expert testimony.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internship experience.
• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission (law graduates awaiting admission may also be considered).
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to strategize and work effectively with fellow attorneys.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build client rapport.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively and ensure cases move forward.
• Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education & Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission or awaiting admission to the California Bar.
