Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join their dynamic litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general commercial litigation, with the ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively with colleagues. The role requires a high level of proficiency in research, writing, and advocacy, along with hands-on experience in all phases of litigation. Admission to the New York Bar is required, with New Jersey Bar admittance being a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all aspects of commercial litigation cases, including drafting complaints, motions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct thorough legal research and provide detailed analysis to support litigation strategy.
• Prepare for and conduct depositions, including witness preparation and examination.
• Handle discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and managing e-discovery.
• Represent clients in federal and state courts, including pre-trial hearings, trial proceedings, and post-trial motions.
• Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel, clients, and third parties to resolve disputes.
• Maintain strong client relationships by providing clear, timely communication and strategic advice.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on complex litigation matters.
• Stay current with relevant legal developments and changes in the law affecting commercial litigation.

Job Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in general commercial litigation.
• Proven ability to handle case management responsibilities, including all phases of litigation.
• Demonstrated experience conducting depositions, drafting complaints and motions, and managing discovery processes.
• Strong advocacy skills with experience appearing in federal and state courts.
• Excellent legal research and brief writing skills.
• Admission to the New York Bar, and in good standing.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic credentials.

Certifications and Licenses:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar (preferred, but not required).
