Associate Attorney Insurance Defense

Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced attorney with a focus on insurance defense litigation to join its Woodbury, NY office. Duties:

• Manage and oversee individual caseloads under the guidance of senior partners.
• Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Conduct thorough legal research and prepare memoranda.
• Represent clients in court, including attending hearings, conferences, and depositions.
• Engage in trial preparation and assist with trials.
• Attend site inspections and work closely with expert witnesses.
• Participate in mediations and negotiations.

Requirements:

• Licensed attorney with 1-5 years of litigation experience.
• Prior experience in defense litigation, particularly in construction accidents and New York Labor Law claims, is preferred.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Effective oral and written communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active New York State Bar License required.

Certifications:

• New York Bar License (mandatory).

Skills:

• Litigation experience in insurance defense, professional liability, general liability, or construction accident cases.
• Proficient in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
• Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw.
• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in writing and orally.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
