Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a skilled and dynamic Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join its IP Litigation Team. This position offers the opportunity to engage in complex patent litigation matters, with responsibilities ranging from drafting and filing motions to managing case progression. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience and the ability to take on leadership roles within the team.

Duties:

  • Manage patent litigation cases, including drafting motions and briefing
  • Take and defend depositions, and engage with expert witnesses
  • Participate in PTAB or trial proceedings
  • Oversee case management and assist junior associates or paralegals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on intellectual property matters
  • Advise clients on strategies to protect their IP assets

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IP litigation
  • Proven ability to handle cases independently
  • Expertise in working with experts and managing litigation proceedings
  • Strong experience in drafting and motion practice
  • Ability to supervise junior team members, including associates and paralegals
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Tennessee or have the ability to become licensed soon
  • Engineering background preferred and USPTO admission a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice in Tennessee (or the ability to obtain it quickly)
  • USPTO registration preferred
