Job Overview:
A premier law firm in Houston is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney with expertise in EOIR to join its team. This position offers significant room for growth and the opportunity to represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, be comfortable managing a caseload, and interact directly with clients. The Attorney will report to the Managing Immigration Attorney while collaborating with a team of Attorneys and Legal Assistants to provide effective representation.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Prepare defensive immigration applications, including I-589, 42A, 42B, I-485, SIJS, and PD requests
  • Review and prepare USCIS filings such as I-130, I-601A, and U-Visa
  • Meet with clients to assess their cases and devise legal strategies
  • Manage a team of paralegals to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case files, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law, with specific expertise in EOIR
  • Strong record of moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload effectively
  • Ability to collaborate and strategize with fellow associates
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients and colleagues professionally
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Texas Bar (Required)

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and EOIR procedures
  • Strong legal writing and research skills
  • Exceptional case management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficient with legal case management software
