A law firm in Iowa City is seeking a Lateral Family Law Attorney with 3+ years of experience. The candidate will assist in all aspects of family law practice, including traditional representation, limited representation, mediation, collaborative law, and appellate advocacy. They will handle a diverse range of cases and issues, including premarital agreements, separation, divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, adoption, termination of parental rights, guardianships, and conservatorships.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in various areas of family law.
  • Handle cases from initial client consultation through resolution, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and agreements related to family law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support cases.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience practicing family law.
  • Substantial experience in handling a wide variety of family law cases.
  • Strong academic background with a J.D. from an ABA-Accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Ability to promptly obtain admission in the State of Iowa.
  • Mediation and collaborative law training and experience are helpful.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-Accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • Comprehensive understanding of family law principles and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
