Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a dedicated Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in criminal defense law, collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. Reporting to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, the selected candidate will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and support various aspects of criminal defense cases.

Duties:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare necessary legal documents for each case.
• Represent clients at pretrial hearings, providing guidance on strategies following each appearance.
• Manage court appearances, trials, motions drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.
• Use knowledge of legal precedents to assess potential case outcomes.
• Handle a caseload efficiently, maintaining strong client communication and providing thorough case analysis.
• Gather and analyze evidence to support clients’ cases or develop arguments against prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and establish strategic goals by gathering information from witnesses and experts.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Collaborative team player, open to strategizing and assisting associates.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to handle a caseload and track case progress efficiently.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active admission to the bar in the state of California.

Skills:

• Preferred bilingual ability (English/Spanish).
• Proficiency with case management software is an advantage.
• Exceptional communication and client interaction skills.
