Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney

A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of practical experience in data privacy counseling. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with state privacy laws, adtech, and industry-specific regulations, and will be adept at managing compliance projects and client interactions.

Duties:

• Lead privacy and cybersecurity projects and interact directly with clients.
• Conduct compliance gap assessments and develop comprehensive compliance programs.
• Draft and review privacy policies, procedures, and guidance, including incident response plans and contracting templates.
• Advise on data sale/sharing, targeted advertising, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist clients in prioritizing, managing risks, and implementing compliance programs.
• Manage and complete large/complex matters independently or as part of a team.
• Provide practical advice on state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, WA MHMD) and sector-specific regulations (e.g., GLBA, HIPAA).

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of practical experience in data privacy and cybersecurity counseling.
• Proven ability to manage matters independently and facilitate project completion.
• Experience with adtech, online trackers, and relevant regulations (e.g., TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB rules).
• Strong preference for experience in financial and health/life sciences sectors.
• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) preferred but not mandatory.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in the jurisdiction (Massachusetts).
• Certifications such as CIPP-US, CIPT, or CIPM are preferred.
