Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced Toxic Tort Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join their Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices, handling complex litigation and toxic tort matters. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in chemical exposure and toxic tort cases and demonstrate excellent skills in legal research, motion practice, and client management.

Duties:

• Conduct legal, medical, and scientific research to support defense strategies
• Take and defend depositions
• Manage discovery, including e-discovery, for large-scale cases
• Draft detailed client reports, memoranda, motions, briefs, and pleadings
• Participate in trial and ADR preparation and strategy development
• Represent clients in courtroom appearances and other legal proceedings
• Meet a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience handling chemical exposure and toxic tort cases
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
• An active member in good standing of the New York Bar
• Admission to Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey preferred (or ability to waive into NJ)
• Extensive experience in depositions, motion practice, pleading preparation, and e-discovery
• Proficiency in Zoom, MS Teams, and similar platforms for virtual depositions and meetings
• Ability to travel for in-person depositions and court conferences as needed

Education:

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar Membership (New York required; Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey preferred)

• Ability to handle competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
• Capacity to quickly process new information
