A law firm seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on immigration-related matters and develop strategic solutions to address their needs.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), both for non-detained and detained clients.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective case handling.
  • Conduct client intake meetings, including visiting detention centers to meet with detained individuals.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, such as removal defense cases and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration application packets for completeness and accuracy, making necessary revisions when needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations to stay informed about evolving immigration laws.
  • Meet with potential clients to conduct strategic immigration consultations and recommend appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Analyze legal cases to identify potential benefits and inform clients of viable options.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for immigration-related cases, ensuring all filings meet required standards.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission (or pending admission for recent graduates).
  • A collaborative team player, eager to assist colleagues and contribute to the team’s success.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (or pending bar admission for recent graduates).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with immigration law, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Proficiency with legal case management software is preferred.
