Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a Lateral Associate Attorney with 3 to 6 years of substantial experience in employment matters related to corporate transactions. This role will be based in the Chicago office, focusing on the employment aspects of various transactions involving private equity clients and strategic investors.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Handle employment aspects of transactions for private equity clients and strategic investors.
  • Draft and negotiate employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements.
  • Conduct legal research to ensure compliance with applicable state law.
  • Advise clients on structuring transactions, market practices, and legal considerations such as wage and hour, discrimination, performance, discipline, leave of absence, and disability.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on due diligence calls and negotiate principal and ancillary transaction documents.
  • Analyze pre-litigation disputes and litigation matters, developing case strategy and preparing drafts of court and agency filings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment law, particularly in private equity or M&A contexts.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice in the state of Illinois or eligibility to obtain admission promptly.

Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client management abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
