A law firm is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation to clients primarily in immigration matters. The ideal candidate will advocate for clients in removal proceedings, humanitarian cases, and other immigration proceedings.

Duties:

  • Counsel and advise clients on immigration options and legal rights
  • Represent clients in immigration and state courts during hearings and trials
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, petitions, and supporting documentation
  • Draft legal correspondence, affidavits, and briefs related to immigration cases
  • Conduct thorough legal research on immigration laws and precedents
  • Participate in legal clinics and workshops to assist the immigrant community
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement, government officials, and other attorneys on immigration cases
  • Attend Continuing Legal Education (CLE) trainings on immigration and related topics
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the managing attorney

Requirements:

  • Law degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to and member in good standing of a State Bar, preferably Alabama
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Strong legal writing skills with the ability to draft complex legal documents
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for courtroom appearances and client consultations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research databases
  • Knowledge of immigration law, courtroom experience, or prior work with the immigrant community is advantageous
