A law firm based in Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental and toxic tort matters, product liability, and class actions related to false advertising and unfair business practices. This role offers significant opportunities for client interaction, research, and litigation work, as well as the chance to engage in business development activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle complex environmental litigation and toxic tort cases, including product liability and class actions related to false advertising and unfair business practices.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client advisories.
  • Analyze and draft legal pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Manage and respond to strategic discovery processes, including gathering and reviewing evidence.
  • Prepare witnesses and develop trial strategies to effectively present cases.
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide updates and strategic advice.
  • Stay informed about environmental compliance, chemical regulations, and emerging issues in the field.
  • Participate in business development activities to promote the firm’s services and build client relationships.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of experience in environmental litigation, toxic tort matters, product liability, and/or class actions.
  • Strong background in science and/or medical issues is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and interest in environmental compliance and chemical regulation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex litigation cases and provide high-quality legal services.
  • Proven track record in client communication and case management.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Illinois Bar, active and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong experience in drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing for trial.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact directly with clients.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, with a keen interest in compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
