Job Overview:

A well-established law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Junior Associate with 2-3 years of relevant experience to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation. Familiarity with key federal and state privacy laws, such as HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CFBA, and BIPA, is essential. Candidates who are not currently CIPP/US certified will be expected to obtain this certification within one year of hire. Admission to the Texas bar is required.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Assist in incident response, privacy litigation, and compliance counseling.
  • Advise clients on risk management and data privacy matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to privacy, including policies and agreements.
  • Stay updated on federal and state privacy and data protection laws.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on various privacy-related issues.
  • Support business litigation efforts as they relate to data privacy and cybersecurity matters.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CFBA, and BIPA.
  • Admission to the Texas bar required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US Certification (preferred, or must be obtained within one year of hire).

  • Strong understanding of data privacy and cybersecurity laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate legal documents, including privacy policies and agreements.
