Job Overview:
A law firm specializing in family law is seeking an experienced, highly motivated attorney to join its Columbia, MO office. This position offers an opportunity to provide strategic legal support and guidance in matters such as divorce, legal separation, paternity actions, and estate planning, among other family law issues. Location:

Duties:

  • Prepare and draft legal documents for filing with appropriate entities and correspondence.
  • Draft pleadings and motions, including judgments and orders.
  • Correspond with attorneys, court personnel, and clients regarding cases.
  • Interview witnesses for court cases and prepare them to testify.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all legal documents prepared.
  • Appear promptly in court for all assigned cases.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned cases, from start to finish.
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, mailing, and organizing files and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research for specific case issues.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • MO state bar license required.
  • Family law experience preferred, but not required.
  • Senior Associate positions available for attorneys with five or more years of litigation experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and legal writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and collaborate effectively with a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active MO State Bar membership.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal writing, document drafting, and pleadings.
  • Strong legal research and analysis abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with clients and court personnel.
  • Ability to handle a full caseload and attend court appearances regularly.
  • Trial experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
