Job Overview

A respected law firm located in Newburyport, MA, seeks a dedicated Entry-Level Estate Planning Attorney to join our growing team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, tech-forward environment, delivering tailored estate planning services to clients. Duties

  • Client Consultations: Conduct initial meetings with prospective clients, establishing rapport, setting clear expectations, and guiding them through the estate planning journey.
  • Estate Plan Design & Drafting: Develop and customize estate plans with clients, including wills, trusts, healthcare proxies, and guardianship designations; draft legal documents using WealthCounsel or similar platforms.
  • Client Communication: Maintain clear, ongoing communication with clients, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Technology Utilization: Conduct virtual meetings on platforms like Zoom, employ interactive tools such as whiteboards, and manage client records efficiently using Zoho CRM.
  • Support Staff Collaboration: Work closely with legal support staff to ensure smooth workflow and document preparation, maintaining client satisfaction and team efficiency.
  • Probate & Trust Administration: Assist clients with probate and trust administration processes, managing timelines, and coordinating with other professionals as needed.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative: Approach client needs and internal processes with creativity, initiative, and resilience, continually seeking improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1-2 years of legal experience, ideally within estate planning or probate; familiarity with Massachusetts probate and estate tax laws is advantageous.
  • Bar Admission: Licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Maine, with Massachusetts Bar Admission preferred.
  • Availability: Must be available to present at community workshops and webinars three evenings per month.

Education

  • Degree: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Skills

  • Client-Centered Approach: Ability to build trust, demonstrate empathy, and address complex and sensitive issues with clients.
  • Technological Proficiency: Experience with WealthCounsel, Zoho CRM, Zoom, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems swiftly.
