Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks an experienced and compassionate Litigation Associate to join its team in Baltimore, MD. This full-time role focuses on advocating for survivors of sexual abuse and other traumatic events, with responsibilities that span all aspects of civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in litigation and will be ready to take on a caseload, including drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and preparing for trial. Duties

• Represent plaintiffs in civil litigation, particularly cases related to sexual abuse and other traumatic events
• Draft complaints, responses to discovery, motions, and other legal documents
• Conduct depositions and participate in trial preparation
• Manage a caseload independently, developing expertise in specific areas of law
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and colleagues to develop case strategies
• Engage in settlement negotiations when appropriate
• Provide clear and timely communication with clients throughout the litigation process
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in case management
• Continue to develop professional expertise through mentorship and ongoing learning

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience practicing civil litigation
• Experience in representing plaintiffs in injury matters is preferred, but candidates with insurance defense or other relevant litigation experience will also be considered
• Ability to manage cases from inception to trial
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated commitment to client advocacy and justice
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
• Passion for helping survivors of sexual abuse and advancing justice in this field

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active state bar license

Skills

• Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills
• Strong advocacy and oral communication abilities
• Experience with case management, including depositions, motions, and trial preparation
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build client relationships
• Proficiency in legal software and case management systems
