A well-regarded law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The role is focused on managing complex, multi-party litigation with a focus on environmental issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong litigation experience who is eager to contribute to high-stakes cases, collaborate with senior partners, and drive impactful legal strategies. The firm offers a flexible work arrangement, including remote options, depending on jurisdiction.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage discovery processes including propounding and responding to discovery requests.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on environmental matters.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of litigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and other members of the legal team on case management.
  • Represent clients in environmental-related legal matters, specifically involving multi-party complex litigation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal cases with a multi-party focus.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a strong emphasis on litigation writing.
  • Experience in environmental law, particularly in CERCLA, is preferred but not required.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar.
  • Willingness to engage in a reduced hours arrangement, with a minimum requirement of 1000 billable hours annually.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar or eligibility to become admitted.

Skills:

  • Excellent litigation writing skills and legal analysis capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other legal professionals.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, particularly in CERCLA.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.
