A law firm in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Chemistry Patent Agent with a strong background in chemical engineering or chemistry. The ideal candidate will possess at least 2 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications and conducting due diligence. This role requires excellent analytical and writing skills, strong organizational abilities, and effective communication skills. The Chemistry Patent Agent will work closely with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to manage intellectual property matters and ensure high-quality legal support.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to chemical engineering and chemistry.
  • Conduct patentability analyses, freedom-to-operate assessments, and prior art searches.
  • Perform due diligence for patent applications, including reviewing and analyzing relevant documents.
  • Collaborate with inventors and legal professionals to develop and implement patent strategies.
  • Manage patent files, documentation, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, business professionals, and third parties, both verbally and in writing.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and respond to correspondence in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Engage in physical and sedentary activities, such as extended computer use and participation in virtual meetings.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality work product.
  • Meet deadlines and expectations while performing work duties as required.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications and conducting due diligence.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Registration with the USPTO.
  • Direct and applicable experience in a large or mid-sized law firm.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective management of tasks and projects.

Education:
