A prominent management-side employment law firm is seeking a highly skilled and business-focused Employment Law Attorney with significant experience in both employer counseling and litigation defense. Duties

  • Client Counseling: Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate clients, offering strategic employment law counsel on day-to-day and complex issues with a focus on protecting business interests.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals to ensure high-quality counsel and representation in employment law matters.
  • Litigation Defense: Handle a blend of employer counseling and litigation defense, with a focus on proactive problem-solving and risk mitigation.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, responding to requests, identifying legal risks, and proactively managing projects.
  • Strategic Consultation: Work closely with clients’ HR and legal teams to address workplace legal matters and provide strategic advice.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in employment law, with a strong background in both employer counseling and litigation defense.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of workplace legal issues, including employee terminations, hiring practices, FMLA, ADA, wage-and-hour laws, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Technology Savvy: Ability to leverage technology effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially when addressing business audiences such as C-suite executives, in-house legal teams, and human resources departments.
  • Work Style: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
  • Business Development: A portable book of business is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar where practicing (New York preferred).
