A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney to focus on student services and disabilities law. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in advocating for students in preschool through 12th grade. The successful candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and contribute to a range of legal matters that impact the education and rights of students.

Duties

  • Assist senior associates, of counsel, and partners in addressing legal issues related to student services and disabilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare clear, well-structured written documents.
  • Guide on matters involving special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Support clients in navigating student-related litigation and interactions with regulatory entities such as the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Collaborate with team members to devise effective legal strategies and solutions tailored to client needs.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of legal experience, ideally in education law or related fields.
  • Proficient research and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.
