Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney to join its Illinois practice, specializing in creditors' rights and real estate law. The role offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity to handle a substantial caseload, including litigation, discovery, and conflict resolution. The successful candidate will also assist with appellate work and engage in key legal matters involving TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and the Bankruptcy Code. Location:

  • Amsterdam, NY

Duties:

  • Manage a significant caseload within the creditors' rights and real estate law sector
  • Handle discovery practices, depositions, and conflict resolution
  • Represent clients in court and assist with litigation processes
  • Support appellate work, including research, brief preparation, and strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Contribute to the firm’s efforts in growing its presence in the legal community
  • Travel to court appearances and client meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar
  • Newly licensed attorneys will be considered, but 5+ years of litigation experience is preferred
  • Proven ability to handle a high volume of creditor's rights cases
  • Familiarity with discovery practice, depositions, and conflict resolution
  • Appellate experience and knowledge of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and the Bankruptcy Code are preferred
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proactively develop industry relationships and enhance the firm’s reputation
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service and exercising sound legal judgment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar (required)
  • Additional Bar licenses are a plus
