A law firm in Austin, TX, seeks an Associate Attorney to join their securities litigation and arbitration practice area. The ideal candidate will have experience in the financial services/brokerage industry and be capable of handling all phases of litigation and arbitration, from case intake to trial and post-trial matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in securities litigation and arbitration cases involving all market participants and investors.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of cases and collaborate closely with clients throughout the case lifecycle, including serving as 1st Chair in trials.
  • Maintain case schedules and deadlines, ensuring docket control of litigation and arbitration matters.
  • Interview prospective clients to assess case merits and firm suitability for representation.
  • Investigate and profile parties and witnesses involved in prospective and active cases.
  • Prepare, respond to, and manage discovery requests, including organizing and analyzing voluminous documents to identify key evidence.
  • Draft and present motions before courts or arbitration panels.
  • Act as a primary liaison with clients, opposing counsel, regulators, experts, and judicial/arbitration forums.
  • Prepare litigation and arbitration pleadings, e-file for Texas courts, and manage case documentation.
  • Attend and prepare for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
  • 2+ years of experience in securities litigation and arbitration, with a focus on the financial services/brokerage industry preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a compassionate approach to client interactions.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, particularly with numerical data.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PDF programs (e.g., Adobe, Nitro), and investment research tools.
  • Knowledge of stock and bond markets, investment and insurance products, private offerings, and brokerage/investment advisory practices.
