Job Overview: A distinguished law firm is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Philadelphia office. This role involves managing insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases, with opportunities to engage in insurance defense and creditors' rights litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Location:

  • Philadelphia, PA

Duties:

  • Examine and assess insurance claims.
  • Prepare and draft coverage opinion letters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Oversee document production.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions.
  • Attend and represent clients at court proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation.
  • Experience with insurance defense and/or creditors' rights litigation is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work confidently and independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, with preference given to candidates with strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in Pennsylvania, in good standing.
  • Either currently admitted to practice in New Jersey or able to obtain a New Jersey bar license within one year.
  • Admission to the New York bar is a plus, but not required.

Skills:

  • Experience with commercial, personal lines, umbrella, and excess policies in litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of analyzing coverage questions and preparing legal opinions.
  • Proven ability to litigate insurance bad faith and extracontractual claims, including discovery and dispositive motion practice.
  • Trial experience is advantageous but not required.
