A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a Renewable Energy/Project Finance Lawyer to join its Financial Services practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic performance, strong interpersonal skills, and 3+ years of experience representing lenders or tax equity investors in renewable energy project finance transactions. This role involves managing complex finance transactions and working closely with clients to provide practical legal solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Represent lenders or tax equity investors in renewable energy project finance transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate project finance documents, including loan agreements, security documents, and tax equity investment agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients on project finance structures, documentation, and risk management.
  • Conduct due diligence and prepare legal opinions on finance-related matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams within the firm, including corporate, tax, and litigation departments.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in project finance and renewable energy.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing high-quality, responsive legal service.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar or ability to waive in promptly.
  • 3+ years of experience representing lenders or tax equity investors in renewable energy project finance transactions.
  • Excellent academic performance and a proven track record of success in previous roles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently under pressure.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of project finance law, including renewable energy finance.
  • Experience with tax equity investment structures and related legal frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar or ability to waive in promptly.
