Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced and dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Miami, FL. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to represent clients facing criminal charges while working in a supportive and dynamic legal environment. The attorney will handle all aspects of criminal defense, from negotiating plea bargains to representing clients in court, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes for each case.

Duties:

  • Analyze and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations to develop defense strategies
  • Advise clients on their legal rights, options, and recommended courses of action
  • Prepare and file motions, pleadings, and other legal documents in court
  • Negotiate plea deals with prosecutors on behalf of clients
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings
  • Gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare cases for trial
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Travel as needed for cases out of state or county

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Graduation in the top 10% of law school class preferred
  • Participation in law review or similar writing/editorial experience is a plus
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Florida
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and trial advocacy skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for cases outside of Miami

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Florida Bar license, in good standing

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and document drafting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and work under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and a client-focused approach to legal representation
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team
