A law firm seeks a Project Finance Associate Attorney for its Washington, DC office.

Job Overview:

The Project Finance Associate Attorney will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various financing documentation, advising clients on strategic transactions, managing deal teams, conducting due diligence, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients and legal teams. The role requires business fluency in Spanish, with Portuguese or French fluency as a plus, along with strong academic credentials, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Duties:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating credit facilities and related financing documentation.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements including purchase and sale, procurement, project development, construction, joint venture, supply, and offtake agreements.
  • Counseling clients on joint ventures, private equity investments, and strategic transactions.
  • Managing deal teams and processes across practice areas and geographic locations.
  • Solving legal problems relating to heavily-regulated industries.
  • Managing and conducting due diligence.
  • Conducting research and drafting memoranda as needed.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and other legal teams.
  • Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on legal matters.
  • Mentoring and training junior team members.
  • Attendance at, and participation in, continuing education classes and client development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience in project finance/finance.
  • Business fluency in Spanish required; fluency in Portuguese or French is a plus.
  • Admitted in Washington D.C.
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent drafting skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Washington D.C. Bar.
