A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney to join their esteemed practice. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated high academic achievement, substantial law firm or clerkship experience, and exceptional problem-solving, writing, and communication skills. This role demands significant expertise in financial services litigation, including commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability. Proven experience in taking and defending depositions and active courtroom involvement is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in high-stakes financial services litigation cases, including those involving commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability.
  • Manage all aspects of litigation, from initial case analysis through trial, including discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct court appearances to argue motions, present evidence, and manage trial proceedings.
  • Perform comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration.
  • Work closely with clients and colleagues to develop and execute effective litigation strategies.
  • Maintain detailed and organized case files, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience or significant clerkship experience, with a focus on financial services, commercial real estate, and distressed loans.
  • Demonstrated experience in taking and defending depositions and handling courtroom proceedings.
  • Strong academic credentials and proven problem-solving and communication skills.
