Job Overview
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its team in New York City, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental law and regulatory compliance, along with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Duties

  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients, colleagues, and third parties.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables and respond to correspondence efficiently.
  • Provide timely, accurate work products while meeting deadlines.
  • Foster positive relationships within the firm and with external stakeholders.
  • Comply with all firm policies and procedures.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activities, including extended computer use and participation in meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and at least one other state.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental law.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or agency setting.
  • Background in key environmental statutes and regulations, including TSCA, FIFRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, and RCRA.
  • Concentrated experience in environmental litigation and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental agencies (e.g., EPA, NOAA).

Education & Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in Washington, D.C., and another state.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and writing abilities.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good business judgment and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Research, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking capabilities.
  • Persuasive communication and management skills.
  • Familiarity with environmental issues in relevant industries (e.g., heavy metals, chemicals, maritime).
  • Experience negotiating compliance and cost recovery agreements is a plus.
