Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join their team in Milwaukee, WI. This position offers the opportunity to work independently on a variety of legal matters, including estate planning, probate and trust administration, tax preparation, and more. Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal services in areas such as estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianships.
  • Handle tax preparation, including individual income tax, fiduciary income tax, and estate/gift tax filings.
  • Assist clients with transactional services, including entity formation for family and closely held businesses.
  • Manage elder law matters and fiduciary litigation, including contested probate and guardianship proceedings.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s legal team while managing an independent caseload.
  • Build and expand a personal client base through professional connections and community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional partners and business development channels.

Requirements:

  • 4-10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: estate planning, probate/trust administration, tax preparation, guardianships, or business law.
  • Proven ability to independently handle a caseload within the firm’s practice areas.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to develop and grow a personal book of business.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on client service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the firm while managing cases independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin.

Skills:

  • Expertise in trust and estate law, probate, and tax-related matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines.
