A law firm seeks an experienced Technology and Procurement Contracts Attorney to join its team in Detroit, Michigan. This position involves reviewing and negotiating procurement contracts, including software licenses, service agreements, and vendor contracts. The ideal candidate will be skilled in contract analysis, drafting legal documents, and providing strategic legal counsel to clients. The attorney will maintain positive client relationships and uphold confidentiality while managing legal matters independently or under the supervision of other attorneys. This is a hybrid role with an opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment.

Duties:

  • Review, analyze, and negotiate procurement contracts, including software license agreements, supplier agreements, service agreements, and other vendor contracts.
  • Perform legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and client documents to provide comprehensive legal representation.
  • Draft and prepare necessary legal documents (agreements, memos, etc.) and ensure they are routed through appropriate office procedures for finalization.
  • Interact and negotiate with opposing counsel, including in contentious or complex matters, to achieve favorable results for clients.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and keep them informed of developments in their legal matters.
  • Ensure client confidentiality is maintained in all matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal matters and develop strategic solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present legal positions clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a team and communicating with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws is beneficial.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan.

Skills:

  • Strategic thinking and ability to conduct detailed legal analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in contract negotiation and legal research.
