A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Litigation Associate to join their Washington, D.C. office. This position is perfect for an attorney with a strong background in managing complex litigation matters, including experience in federal court. The ideal candidate will be involved in all stages of case management, from discovery to depositions and motions practice, and will have the opportunity to work with expert witnesses and handle oral arguments. Duties:

  • Manage and oversee complex commercial litigation matters from start to finish in federal court.
  • Conduct motions practice, including drafting and arguing motions.
  • Handle written discovery, eDiscovery, and depositions.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and coordinate their involvement in the litigation process.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to clients throughout the lifecycle of litigation matters.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in hearings, including oral arguments on discovery motions.
  • Manage case timelines and collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth case progression.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Extensive experience in federal court litigation, including motions practice, discovery, and depositions.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and coordinate all aspects of litigation.
  • Experience working with expert witnesses and participating in oral arguments on discovery motions.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with a focus on clarity and precision.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License in good standing (D.C. Bar preferred, or eligible to be admitted).

Skills:

  • Expertise in managing and litigating complex commercial cases in federal court.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective oral advocacy skills, with experience in oral arguments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage case workload efficiently.
  • Experience in handling eDiscovery processes and motions practice.
  • Proficiency in managing relationships with expert witnesses and other litigation professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and the ability to foresee litigation challenges.
