A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Associate Attorney for their Austin, TX office. The candidate will primarily handle regulatory aspects of energy projects across the country, with a specific emphasis on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid/transmission issues within the renewable energy sector.

 

Job Overview:

  • Manage regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase/sale, and operation.
  • Specialize in power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid/transmission issues in renewable energy.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on regulatory matters pertaining to energy projects.
  • Draft and review power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and related project documents.
  • Provide legal guidance and support on compliance with FERC electricity regulations.
  • Assist in the due diligence process for energy project financing and transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of legal experience with a focus on FERC electricity regulations.
  • Exposure to project finance or energy transaction documents is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks within the renewable energy industry.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research methodologies and analytical reasoning.
  • Competent in drafting and reviewing legal documents with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledgeable about regulatory compliance processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for client interactions and stakeholder management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
